Welcome to Money Talks!

Welcome to Money Talks!

Let’s face it, money is not a topic many women feel comfortable discussing. As a wealth advisor, my goal is to help clients by giving them the tools and guiding them through different stages of their financial life. This blog aims to help you feel confident when making financial decisions for yourself and your family.

As women, we wear a lot of hats—daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, employer or employee and caregiver. Every hat we wear and every phase of life will require us to make important financial decisions. And if we’re being honest, many of us don’t feel super confident when it comes to money and investing.

Whether it’s a career decision, prenup or retirement, we will discuss the financial considerations that come with these life events. I look forward to digging into topics important to women and learning together.

But first, let’s take a look at some statistics specific to women and finance:

  • 56% of women married to men leave financial planning and investment decisions to their husbands
  • 75% of women are concerned about their ability to save for retirement
  • Women are nearly twice as likely to have negative feelings about finances as men[1]

Ladies! I don’t like these stats! As we all know, knowledge is power and financial literacy is key to building and maintaining wealth. But to increase our financial literacy, we must make an effort and make it a priority. This does not mean that we have to become experts on all things financial. Basic knowledge will help us make informed decisions.

A comparison we like to make is to a CEO. You are the CEO (or Co-CEO) of your finances. As CEO, you need to have basic knowledge of all the company “departments” in order to make important choices. A CEO has the confidence to ask a lot of questions and lean on their experts (advisors) for advice.

So let’s be the CEO of our finances and get to work! Let’s talk about money!
